I have lived in the small town of Tipton my entire life. I graduated from Tipton High School and went to Ball State University where I earned a degree in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education with a minor in Psychology. I recently retired from teaching at Taylor Elementary where I taught 1st grade for 31 years.
I married my high school sweetheart and best friend, Sam Friend in 1987. We have two children. Shawn Friend and his wife Megan, and Kayla Parr and her husband Nick all who call Rock Prairie their church home! I am beyond blessed with five beautiful grandchildren: Isabelle June, Hazel Grace, Rowan Samuel, Jaden Nicholas, and Rhys Michael.
I grew up in church and knew about God in my mind, but it was at the Great Banquet at the age of 36 where the Lord opened my heart to his amazing grace! I began my walk of sanctification as I now had a personal relationship with Jesus! I have grown in my relationship with the Lord through bible studies, many conversations with my husband, prayer, Moody radio, teaching in the children’s wing, life group, and serving at the Great Banquet and Awakening.
I cherish my family and spend most of my spare time with my grandchildren! I also love being outside in God’s creation, taking walks, serving Jesus, and reading God’s word.
I am beyond blessed to serve as the Children’s Director at Rock Prairie! I have the honor of helping families come alongside their children in learning about Jesus and the bible. What an amazing privilege!
